Forecast: Up to 17 inches of snow expected as massive storm moves in
Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for Long Island, New York City and three other counties as a monster storm expected to dump up to 17 inches of snow on the Island moved in.
Snowstorm expected to disrupt mass transit, airports
The LIRR was expected to shut down overnight, ahead of the worst of the expected storm, and resume service on Sunday. It could remain out of service until the Monday morning rush hour, the head of the MTA said Friday.
