| The push-button ignition was a luxurious way to start your car until it wasn’t Posted: 31 May 2022 03:00 PM PDT  The first time I started a car by pressing a button, it felt too easy and convenient — like I had somehow stumbled into a tax bracket I don't belong in. "You're telling me," I thought, "that I can just leave my keys in my pocket, and the car will let me get in and drive around?" The push-button ignition is one of those buttons that doesn't really add any new functionality over the thing it's replacing (in this case, the ignition system that has you insert and turn a key). | Rivian manufacturing executive leaves as part of reorganization Posted: 30 May 2022 02:17 PM PDT  Rivian's Charly Mwangi, its executive vice president of manufacturing engineering and a former Tesla exec, is leaving the company as part of a bigger shakeup splitting up parts of the company, according to Bloomberg. "The reorganization calls for splitting the commercial business, which includes delivery vans made for Amazon, from the retail side of the company that produces the R1T plug-in pickup truck and R1S sport-utility vehicle," Bloomberg reports. The company's new COO, Frank Klein, will now oversee "many" senior manufacturing and supply chain employees. The Wall Street Journal also reported on the shakeup.
