Bacoleña Jasmin O. Egan: An exemplary public servant Posted: 21 Jun 2022 02:43 AM PDT BACOLEÑA Jasmin O. Egan, Presidential Protocol Director II of the Office of the President, was bestowed with the "Order of Lapu- Lapu" by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte in rites held at the Malacañang Palace recently. The Order of Lapu-Lapu, particularly the Rank of Kamagi, is conferred by the president of the Philippines in recognition of the exemplary service rendered by officials and personnel of both government and private individuals.Receiving such an award surprised Egan, saying that it never crossed her wildest dream as she only worked according to the duties and responsibilities assigned to her."I've never imagined stepping into Malacañang Palace and working for the president, more so getting an award," she said.As she received one of the most prestigious awards a government employee or official could earn, she said no words could describe how grateful she was to be appreciated by her boss-the country's top leader.Egan expressed her gratitude to Duterte, who in a few days' time will relinquish his post to incoming President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.The Bacoleña stressed that among the presidents she knew, Duterte was the one who displayed the willingness to risk his own life for the people and treat the Filipinos as his children."He wouldn't care what time of day it is, whether it is evening, dawn, or morning, as long as he could personally check how Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are doing," Egan shares.Working for the president, Egan said, she witnessed how Dutere showed willingness to travel from one corner of the country to another and see the real situation and plight of the people."While he may have received many criticisms, he continues to lead and speak (and) behind his character lies a bleeding heart (especially) when he sees the situation in the country and never heard him complain," Egan told Sunstar Bacolod.Asked for a message for Duterte, she said, "Though you don't get to sleep nor eat as much yourself because you always think about work... you always ask if we've already taken our meal and if we had enough sleep (and) the energy you exude is like that of a newly released machine." |
