Capital Weather Gang gives it an 8/10.   The government said a Proud Boys leader was central to the attack on the Capitol. What to know: Henry "Enrique" Tarrio's seditious conspiracy trial is entering its eighth week. Prosecutors say he holds the key to what the extremist group planned on Jan. 6, 2021, despite not being in Washington. Some details: More than 200 encrypted messages show that Tarrio appeared to align his plans with those of President Donald Trump's "stop the steal" organizers. Read this story     Metro will reassemble all wheels on its 7000-series cars. Why? There are flaws in how the wheels were pressed onto train axles, according to federal data released yesterday. The cars were suspended in 2021 after a derailment, but they've been put back into service ― with regular wheel inspection.  What now? The agency announced a three-year, $55 million effort to permanently fix the problem. They will have to refit 5,984 wheels onto 2,992 axles of 748 rail cars. Read this story     Prince George's County approved a bill to increase rent-control protections. The details: Landlords will no longer be able to raise rent higher than 3% in a 12-month period under a plan championed yesterday by the incoming County Council's liberal members. Why it matters: The measure will be in effect for a year and aims to blunt the impact of rising rents amid stagnant incomes and historic inflation. Read this story     ADVERTISEMENT     Maryland's governor withdrew a nominee to a key climate position. Gov. Wes Moore (D) announced yesterday that he would pull the nomination of Juan Alvarado, an official at the American Gas Association, from the state agency that helps regulate the natural gas industry. What happened? The decision comes a day after The Post reported that environmental groups had raised concerns about elevating Alvarado to the Public Service Commission.  Read this story     The Capitals continued to overhaul their roster. The hockey team traded Erik Gustafsson and a 2023 first-round pick, acquired last week, to the Toronto Maple Leafs yesterday for defenseman Rasmus Sandin. They also shipped forward Marcus Johansson to the Minnesota Wild for a 2024 third-round draft pick. What's next? Probably more trades. The Caps play in Anaheim, Calif., tonight at 10 p.m. It will air on NBC Sports Washington. Read this story     Capital Weather Gang predicted a peak bloom date for cherry blossoms. The timetable: Early blooms are emerging because of a historically mild January and February. Peak bloom is expected to be between March 25 and 29, a few days earlier than normal.
