This moment is all you have to create change. Something we talk about often in our journals is the idea that change is only possible in the one part of time we ever experience - this present moment - that uninterruptedly moves into the next present moment. Another idea we bring up repeatedly is to act with your future self in mind. To take actions based on who you want to grow into. That if you live exactly as you have been, nothing can change. Both of these ideas hold true. Your life will remain what it is, you will remain what you, are unless you act differently than you're accustomed to in an increasingly consistent amount of present moments. When you really understand the truth of those two concepts through your actual experience, the feeling that at times guides you towards improved behavior begins to speak just a little bit more loudly at the right times. The next step in that understanding is the demand to actively think, throughout the day at critical moments of opportunity, "In one year from now, what will I be happy I decided to do in this moment?" "In 5 years from now, looking back, how would I have wanted myself to respond to this situation?" "In 20 years from now, what habits will I wish I worked towards building? What does that mean I need to do right now?"
When you start to act, NOW, on what you know will benefit you later on, you're actively creating change in your future. It may not always feel like significant in the moment, but it is the only possible path. | | With immense gratitude, The Habit Nest Team | | We LOVE hearing from you.
