Onward to the news. 🌧 65/90. A chance of storms this afternoon. Capital Weather Gang gives it a 4/10.   Hyundai announced it will offer free anti-theft upgrades in D.C. Why? Social media videos showing how to hot-wire Hyundai vehicles with a USB phone charger cord have resulted in a wave of thefts. Auto thefts in D.C. have spiked 117% this year. What to know: A drive-through clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 27-31 in Lot 8 of RFK Stadium at 2400 Independence Avenue SE. A Hyundai spokesman said anyone who owns or leases a car that fits the criteria will be not turned away, even if they don't live in the District. Read this story     Regional trails will receive $25 million for construction and renewal. What to know: At least 15 miles of trails will be constructed or revitalized in communities spanning Prince George's County, Montgomery County and D.C., with help from the federal grant announced yesterday.  Why it matters: The project will enhance recreational and economic opportunities and improve trail access for nearly 300,000 residents, local leaders said.  Read this story     Volunteers are helping repopulate the Chesapeake Bay with oysters. (Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post) The effort: Marylanders Grow Oysters volunteers spend months keeping baby bivalves alive so they can be delivered in the summer to reefs. The volunteers say it connects them to the larger goal of cleaning and caring for the bay. The numbers: Since it began in 1994, the larger Oyster Recovery Partnership nonprofit has helped plant more than 10 billion oysters in Chesapeake reefs. Read this story     ADVERTISEMENT     D.C. started camera enforcement of bus-only lanes this week. What's happening: Cameras on 140 buses will be used to catch motorists who drive, idle or park in bus-only lanes. Transit officials hope the effort will speed up buses, especially at rush hour. The penalty: For now, bus lane violators will receive warnings. Fines ranging from $100 to $200 will begin Sept. 18.  Read this story     Thieves swiped keys from a valet stand in downtown D.C. What to know: Thieves have targeted restaurant valets amid a spike in car robberies in D.C., including Saturday in the CityCenter area and Thursday night near Franklin Square. Acting D.C. police chief Pamela Smith said officers have been advising valets to find secure places to keep keys so they're not readily accessible. Both were placed on leave Friday after what people familiar with the situation described as a locker room confrontation.  More off-field issues: Hours before announcing Robertha and Fountas were placed on leave, United fired athletic trainer Reade Whitney for displaying a "discriminatory hand gesture" in a staff photo.
