Latest System Updates

Last month, we released new updates to improve your experience on data.census.gov. With this release, you will now see:

  • Compressed download size
  • Geography Profile enhancements
  • Fixes to 30 defects

Learn More

A major theme of the release is to provide better information as you work through the platform. This includes new banner functionality to alert you to key updates and critical notifications. For example, when data from the 2020 Census are released, we can add a message to the top of your screen to tell you that new data are available.

But when it comes to navigating data.census.gov, we know the small details are just as important as major notifications. That's why we have added more information to make it easier for you to understand what you see on screen and decide what to click on next.

For instance, when you run searches in the "Pages" section of data.census.gov, you will now see the URL for each search result. This will help you decide which result is most relevant before you click it.

You will also notice new notifications about the file size before you download tables, and better labeling of data sources, percentages, and dollar values in the Geography Profiles.

Latest Data Releases

New Data Releases:

*Starting with reference year 2019, we integrated data from ZIP Business Patterns and County Business Patterns into a single data table (CB1900CBP) and API dataset (https://api.census.gov/data/2019/cbp.html). This change makes it is easier for you to access data for all available geographies in one place.

New Historical Datasets Migrated to Microdata Access:

  • Current Population Survey Volunteering and Civic Life (2002-2015) – May 6
  • Current Population Survey Computer and Internet Use (1994, 1997-1998, 2000-2001, 2003, 2007, 2009-2013, 2015, 2017) – May 6

Coming Soon

In future updates to data.census.gov, we are working towards:
