| 53IB holds community outreach mission in Siayan Posted: 05 Jun 2021 06:11 AM PDT THIRTY-SIX militiamen and their dependents benefited from the community outreach mission initiated by the Bravo Company of the Army's 53rd Infantry "Matapat" Battalion (IB) in the remote town of Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte, a military official said on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Lieutenant Colonel Jo-ar Herrera, 53IB commander, said the beneficiaries of the outreach mission held Wednesday, June 2, were the militiamen and their dependents in Guigang and Guibo patrol bases in the municipality of Siayan. Herrera said the outreach mission is part of his command's "Better Life: Adopt a Cafgu (Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit) Project" in partnership with the municipality government of Siayan. "The 'Better Life: Adopt a Cafgu Project' is a comprehensive program of providing the necessary assistance, knowledge, and structural pathway for our Cafgu Active Auxiliary personnel for them to achieve personal and professional growth," Herrera said. Herrera said the project is their way of expressing their gratitude and recognizing our Cafgu personnel in their dedication to service for helping our Matapat Troopers in maintaining peace and security in the area. The activity was spearheaded by the Siayan Mayor Josecor Gepolongca with his team from Siayan Rural Health Unit (RHU), Nurse Victorino Labastida. Activities included the distribution of food packs, free medical check-ups, operation tuli, and giving of medicines and haircuts. First Lieutenant Niel Kim Garcia, 53IB's Bravo wants to show them their gratitude because they are their first responders and the backbone of the Army. Herrera said the activity is part of the 53IB's drive to pursue transformation to become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap. | 2nd Special Forces Battalion fetes militiamen Posted: 05 Jun 2021 06:11 AM PDT THE Army's 2nd Special Forces Battalion (2SFBn) has awarded Military Merit Medal (MMM) to five militiamen for meritorious performance of duty in an anti-terror campaign in the province of Sulu. Lieutenant Colonel Jooney Jay Busiños, 2SFBn commander, led the awarding of the MMM Monday, May 31, held at the headquarters of the 4th Special Forces Company (4SFC) in Kanaway village, Parang, Sulu. Busiños said the awardees were Alsidar Tanni, Nadzmil Hajihil, Markin Radong, Alexander Elias, and Junsar Jundam. They are under the 4SFC headed by Captain Louie Dandy Haro. He said they were awarded MMM for their meritorious performance of duty as operating troops during the conduct of combat operations against the Abu Sayyaf bandits. Meanwhile, he said that 25 Letters of Commendation were awarded to other militiamen for their exemplary performance in the line of duty. He said as a member of the premiere force multiplier unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the 2SFBn recognizes and takes pride in the accomplishments of the militiamen in the province of Sulu. | Barmm to build 350 core shelters in Maguindanao Posted: 05 Jun 2021 06:01 AM PDT SOME 50 indigent families in Sugadol village, Datu Abdullah Sangki (DAS), Maguindanao are set to benefit from the region-wide core shelter program of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) Ahod Ebrahim. The OCM's Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan (Kapyanan) program led the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, June 2, signaling the start of the construction of the houses in Sugadol village, DAS town. DAS Councilor Suharto Mabang, who also led the groundbreaking ceremony, said the 50 shelters in Sugadol village are part of the 350-housing projects for the municipalities of DAS, Rajah Buayan, Shariff Aguak, General SK Pendatun (GSKP), and Mamasapano. The groundbreaking ceremonies for the towns of Rajah Buayan and GSKP were held Tuesday, June 1 and 3, respectively. Schedule for similar events in Shariff Aguak and Mamasapano are being finalized. Under its 2020 budget appropriations, Kapyanan program aims to build a total of 1,000 housing units complete with solar-powered light and water components for the province of Maguindanao. This is in addition to the 1,130 core shelters for the province approved under the program's 2019 budget. Kapyanan is one of the banner programs of Ebrahim, which aims to improve the living condition of the poorest of the poor in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
