| YOUR WEEKLY UPDATE ON TOP ETF TRENDS | | | |
Fixed income ETFs are seeing flows return with a vengeance. Just last week, we saw record trading of $58 billion in fixed-income ETFs. With bond yields not far from multiyear highs and the Federal Reserve ready to step on the gas pedal – not to mention the S&P 500 still firmly in bear market territory – some might be wondering whether now could be the right time to re-establish exposure to both bonds and stocks – in other words, shift back toward a 60/40 portfolio allocation strategy. How are fund managers feeling these days? Join us Monday on ETF Edge with our guests Tom Lydon, Chairman of VettaFi and Simeon Hyman, Global Investment Strategist at ProShares, who will give more details on his new short bitcoin strategy ETF, which launched at a tough time for crypto. We'll also hear from Andrew Chanin, CEO of ProcureAM, who will discuss his new global disaster recovery ETF – the first-ever of its kind. Tune into ETFEdge.cnbc.com on Monday at 1pm. Crypto continues to come under pressure. Last week, bitcoin dropped below $18,000 for the first time since November 2020, wiping more than $1 trillion off the crypto market in the blink of an eye. Many are now pointing to enormous outflows from the Canadian Purpose Bitcoin ETF – the world's largest spot bitcoin ETF, which lost half of its assets under managements just days before the crash.
A small handful of ETF launches of note this week: Besides ProShares' Short Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITI), which launched on Wednesday, two semi-transparent actively managed ETFs are taking flight. On Thursday, IndexIQ announced it is joining forces with Winslow Capital to launch the IQ Winslow Large Cap Growth ETF (IWLG) and the IQ Winslow Focused Large Cap ETF (IWFG). And on Friday, Nuveen rolled out its new Global Net Zero Transition ETF (NTZG) – which provides exposure to companies committed to "net zero" carbon emissions and disruptive clean tech. |
