Onward to the news. 🌧 Near 60/Upper 20s. Cloudy and mild with showers and a gusty breeze. Capital Weather Gang gives it a 5/10.   Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was found guilty of seditious conspiracy. A federal jury convicted the leader of the extremist group yesterday after three days of deliberations. Rhodes faced the historically rare charge for leading a months-long plot that ended with the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. What's next: Rhodes faces up to 40 years in prison for this and other convictions. Two remaining trials are set for December for other Oath Keepers and leaders of the Proud Boys. Read this story     A Walmart employee has sued the company over the Chesapeake store shooting. Why? Donya Prioleau says store managers knew ― or should have known ― that the gunman, an overnight manager, could harm others. She survived the shooting that killed six people last week. The allegations: Prioleau claims that the shooter maintained a "kill list" and that he told employees he would retaliate if he was fired. Read this story     There's no word yet on a special election to replace Rep. Donald McEachin.  Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) said yesterday that he had not set a date. McEachin (D), who died unexpectedly this week at 61, represented Virginia's 4th District. The process: Under state law, the governor calls a special election to fill a vacancy when a member of the House of Representatives dies or resigns. The law does not specify how soon the governor must act. Read this story     ADVERTISEMENT     D.C. filed more charges in its ongoing lawsuit against Casa Ruby. A court filing by the District released this week claimed that Ruby Corado, the nonprofit's founder, routed hundreds of thousands of dollars meant for the group's LGBT clients to her personal bank accounts. Other theft allegations: The city claims the organization skirted wage laws with its own staff, including paying workers less than the minimum and not paying out all the money they earned. Read this story     The pilot in the Maryland plane crash said he had visibility issues. (Craig Hudson for The Washington Post) Patrick Merkle told a 911 dispatcher that he descended "a little lower than I should have." He and a passenger got tangled up in power lines near the Montgomery County Airpark on Sunday. What's next? Merkle was released from the hospital this week. He said his passenger, Janet Williams, was expected to be released yesterday. A federal investigation is underway, but updates aren't expected for weeks. Read this story     D.C. is hoping consultants can help address its inability to provide decent housing.  The city had until today to lay out a game plan, which included hiring outside assistance, for turning around mismanagement that federal officials cited in a scathing report. The city's deadline to correct these deficiencies is March 31. What else to know: After the report cast much of the blame on D.C. Housing Authority leadership, its executive staff received bonuses of up to $20,000 this month. Read this story     An assault charge was dropped against a former D.C. deputy mayor. Christopher Geldart was the city's deputy mayor of public safety and justice until he resigned in October. He was accused of grabbing a man's throat during an argument in a gym parking lot in Virginia. The reasoning: The case was dismissed yesterday after prosecutors played witness testimony that claimed Geldart was not "the primary aggressor," though it was "definitely a mutual thing."
